Mom’s Baked Beans II

I’m not sure how it started, but we have to have Mom’s baked beans at every holiday meal—or there will be mutiny!

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 strips bacon
  • 2 (28 ounce) cans baked beans
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup diced tomatoes
  • ½ cup chopped cooked ham
  • 3 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Cook onions and bacon in a large, deep skillet over medium-high heat until evenly browned. Drain and set aside.
  3. Combine beans, onion bacon-mixture, brown sugar, tomatoes, ham, molasses, prepared mustard, dry mustard, and salt in a large bowl; mix well Transfer to a 2-quart casserole dish; cover dish.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Uncover; bake 1 hour more.
